Welcome to my Web site! Prepare to plunge into my world of honey and maple syrup, where rhythms and melodies intertwine in a dance that balances East, West and Maghreb.

Considered one of Quebec’s most beautiful voices, Lynda Thalie offers a musical tapestry created through a harmonious interweaving of World Music instruments and tones. In recent years, the Algerian-born artist has reaffirmed her universal appeal, drawing enthusiasm from thousands of listeners on four continents.

Her unique voice and musical style have earned her a special place in the Canadian arts community. Depicted as a singer/songwriter who gracefully weds North African and Middle-Eastern beats with Occidental sounds, Lynda Thalie has garnered critical acclaim as an artist who mirrors the diversity of today’s Quebec.

Since her debut, the collaborations and accolades have continued to grow in number. Her career is studded with musical jewels fashioned with such artists as Michel Rivard, Luc de Larochellière and Yann Perreau from Québec, as well as Rachid Taha of France and Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel). She has also provided vocals for the soundtrack of films by Michel Cusson of Cité-Amérique and the National Film Board of Canada.

The year 2000 was marked by a Ma première Place des Arts award in the Vocalist category as well as Distinction and Radio-Canada awards.

In 2003, she played La Rose, the only female role in the musical Le Petit Prince.

Her artistic efforts were honoured in 2004 with the Prix du patrimoine d’expression du Québec.

The year 2005 was a turning point both in Lynda Thalie’s career and her life. After an 11 year absence, she returned for the first time to her native Algeria for a series of concerts. She would tour the country several times thereafter, to the great delight of a host of loyal fans.

In 2005, she also represented Canada at the Quinzaine de la Francophonie held in Rwanda.

In 2005 and 2006, her solo concerts and special appearances with renowned artists — particularly during the opening shows — at the Francofolies de Montréal were high points of the festival.

Again in 2006, the De neige ou de sable tour electrified audiences at 64 halls and festivals across Québec. The show earned four nominations at the prestigious ADISQ gala, and the album a nomination as “World Music album of the year” as well as a nomination at the S.O.B.A. (Sounds of Blackness Award) gala. In February this same year, she was invited to Toronto to perform at the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame gala.

The year 2007 proved spectacular, the highlight being an international tour of six countries, with concerts in halls and amphitheatres at once prestigious and mythical. The Middle East, North Africa, Europe and Latin America were thus able to discover her remarkable talent. On return to Montreal, Linda Thalie was the special guest of Rachid Taha at the dazzling closing concert of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, performed before an audience of 100,000.

The year 2008 began with a tour of the Middle East, and this fall will see the release of a new album on the Musicor label, a finely crafted work that draws on the artist’s roots as well as her experiences on the road. The singer/songwriter successfully mines her soul to take us ever further in her quest of the world’s finest.

The 2009 concert series La Rose des Sables promises to be a tour to the frontiers of sensuality and mystery. More captivating and womanly than ever, Lynda Thalie welcomes us into her exotic world of Eastern essences.

Lynda Thalie is an international artist, the voice of a cosmopolitan world free of borders, and a celebration of universality.
